Absolutely True Autobiography
October 16th, 2006
Once I was a princess
in a land of death,
where knights atop white unicorns
perished in dragons' breath.
Once I was a captain
on a ship among the stars;
we were ruthless pirates,
riding comets like rocket cars.
Once I was an artist
in the reflection of a lake.
I sculpted mirthful mermaids
while Titan lied in wake.
Once I was a tailor,
who made coats and capes for kings
out of rarest penguin feathers
and deadly scorpid stings.
Once I was a wizard
who studied aincent lore.
I could calm ferocious blizzards
or harness an earthquake's roar.
Once I was a tadpole,
Swimming in a creek,
until I grew a set of legs
and taught them how to leap.
Once I was a forethought
in a stranger's eyes,
who must have thought me crazy
for telling silly lies. |
