I love my Druid, he's feral spec for now, I think I will be going more far a hybrid build as I reach 70, it's my only toon and have enjoyed leveling him thus far. My only complaint is that some people I group with seem to think that we are only useful as healers. This IMO is completely wrong, specd as feral, I always, and I mean always top the DPS meter when running an instance that I don't have to heal full time. This is probably because 1.0 I've grouped w/ people who suck at thier class 2.) I play my Druid very well IMO 3.) I had some pretty good gear for what ever level instance I was running. I like the fact that I can pop back into caster form, and save a life or two when needed, but being that all my gear is +Str +agi, +stam my mana pool is extremely small. Yet people seem to think that I can still be the main healer w/ no problem......unfortunately I have to tell them I can't which sometimes leads to me being kicked out of a group so they can find a healer. The point of being a druid is being a utility man. During any one instance I have tanked, off-tanked, Back up healed and pushed out DPS, all at the same time (or at least in the same run) Thats what drew me into to starting off as a druid. Some people need to realize that some druids are not just good at healing, if i wanted to heal all the time I would have rolled a priest. All right enough ranting I gotta get back to work in my RL. See you on the way up!

When I speced my druid to full feral I made up my mind I would never go back to any other spec. Full Feral rocks. I use to be a hybrid feral/resto but damn Mangle is so worth the points. Oh and moonkin? Just roll a mage. hehehe

Well, as a mage, I like having a moonkin in the party. They give you a very nice crit bonus to spells (+5 to spell crits = :aok

But ya, what you said lol

You pull off the tank as is. You don't need more crit bonus.

yeah mangle is pretty sweet, works perfect w/ pounce as well.......dead>

technically a druid could be replaced/replace anything, a fearal cat spec could switch out with a rogue, feral bear could switch with a warrior, moonkin/mage, tree/priest, etc. The way i see a druid (as someone thats never played one) They're built to be the most versitile class. Usually as with all the different types of classes focusing on one aspect such as tanking or dps usually gives better results vs. trying to spread yourself to thin by covering to many jobs. (i.e. you wouldn't want to go into a group DPSing, Tanking, & Healing at the same time) Some specs go better with others (i.e. healing & Spell DPS or Tanking,Melee DPS) in the end it all comes down to wasting a ton of bank space keeping different types of sets for each time you feel like respeccing to a different group role. (to think of it this would be perfect for John's crazy unpredictable class changing nature)
so in the end i think blizzard made this class for the person that has no idea what they want to be (like john) so instead of rollin a new char every time they want to try a different type of group role they can just respec and change thier gear out.

Well, I've been playing my Moonkin now for the last couple days......and it is probably the most fun I've had playing WoW in a long while. IDK how my DPS or group viability is, and I really don't care, I'm having a blast (pun intended) my Treant's are sick and easily can take down elementals, or other things with relatively low HP by themselves while I go to work on 2-3 other things. So in a span of 30 seconds I can realistically take down 4 mobs and still have enough mana to keep killing a few more single mobs before I need to eat/drink. Thats pretty sick IMO, I've never been able to do that with such ease in when I was feral spec. And my gear isn't all that great either..... A few blues, and alot of AH greens I picked up on the cheap, and my bracers are Lvl 60 Purples Cenarion Bracers that my buddy gave me, so I can only imagine what it will be like as I get better gear and more effiecient playing Moonkin. Anywho, I just thaought I would give anyone who cared an update as to how it's going thus far

Mages love moonkins! you guys' presence makes my crit % go to about 25! /woot

Yeah so far I haven't gotten much shit from anyone (full expecting too, you can't look like a retarded space chicken, and not expect to get made fun of a little bit). In fact the react has been something like this
<Random player> MOONKIN!!!!!! <3
<Random Player> Wow, Moonkins can kick some ass, I never thought they were as good as they are
<Random Mage> I love you, I'm putting you in my friends list <--------that one creeped me out a little
One thing I read, as I was researching what I wanted to spec to is that Moonkins have to be really careful about aggro, but I haven't found it to be a problem as of yet, and if it does become one, as I get more powerful, There is a cape you can buy from Sporegaar (revered) that lowers your threat, so I'll just go buy that and hopefully that will solve the problem
So as of right now I'm really digging it, we will see how it goes, I still have all my feral gear in case I change my mind.

ya heavy dmg casters get giddy over that crit chance aura.
07-20-2007, 11:31 AM
Much to the disappointment of the tank.
07-20-2007, 12:18 PM
I know what it's like to have unruly casters in a group while your trying to tank, makes it hard, but if everything was easy on the game, everyone would be good
07-21-2007, 01:40 PM
A good caster should know how NOT to pull aggro off a tank. Period. It will cause a wipe then you (as a caster) will not be favored by many for other groups lol

Well I dinged 68 a few days ago, and flight form if fucking awesome, it makes life in the outlands so much easier, it's faster to ride your Epic Ground where you can, but if you come acrossed something you don't feel like fighting, or going around, the option to fly over it is priceless. The fact that it's a instant cast is just icing on the cake
I'm a little over 1/2 way through 68 and plan to ding 70 this week some time. I just got into shadow moon valley, and am getting as far as i can into the helmet quest that you get there, (I got one more step before they start becoming group quests)
But I digress, to sum up
FLIGHT FORM IS AWESOME!
the fact that it only costs 8G to train makes it FUCKING AWESOME!
the fact that it's insta-cast makes it REALY FUCKING AWESOME!
Dr00ds FTW!
Oh, and I think the +5% crit chance moonkin buff, is even for melee classes as well since the last patch, IDK for sure, but I will check it out tonight for sure to confirm either way.

finally people will get off warlocks for getting a free horse x)
07-23-2007, 05:10 PM
Yeah but when you go for epic flight form you have to pay full price and pay for the riding skill you skipped with the first flying mount. Plus you have to quest to get it. So in the end Druids pay just as much as anyone else and have to jump threw more hoops so I think the insta cast is for all the extra shit. hehe

I'm one point away from getting my mangle!!! All feral for me.

Yeah feral is great, especially for solo/instancing, I had a great time doing it 10-66ish. Especially in the outlands where the gear is PHAT for feral druids! Actually any spec Druid gets taken care of in the outlands
The great thing about rolling a Druid though is that at any point, if you get sick of just melee DPS (believe me you will at some point)you can respec and be either a healer or a nuker.... I just switched to Balance cause I got sick of doing the same thing over and over and wanted to try something new. But I would deffinately recomend Feral untill your into your 60's where getting gear is alot easier for the different specs. It's all about your personal choice and how you like to play. Once I went Moonkin, I'll never go back, it sooooo much fun IMO, but does come with a stigma attached and really no Raid Viability (I don't really plan on raiding seriously), but for good ol' fashion PvE and even PvP it's a good choice, if you still want to pump out DPS and try a new play style.

I feel the same way about feral that you feel about boomkin. hehe
I played with a lot of dif specs for my druid. You can ask Mikey about that. hehe Once I went full feral I knew I found my spec. But you do need to have DPS gear and tanking gear and I do keep a set of healer gear too. hehe

I am at 51, been feral the whole time. All my gear is oriented to that. I think I will do what you did and wait to respec until higher level. But I do want to try the others. I'm gonna have to start working on those other sets of gear

08-01-2007, 07:55 AM
yeah, feral gear is pretty easy to come by Pre-outlands, but Leather healing and Leather Sp Caster gear is few and far between, I have my old Tank/melee dps gear in the bank, and my new Spell DPS gear also works for healing if needed in a bind, most of it has +dmg & heal. I would recomend to any Druid to respec at least once closer to 70 just to get a feel for how to play other roles in a group and if you don't like it you can always spec right back but at least you gave it a shot
Having 2 or even 3 sets of gear is highly recomended, that way you can adapt to any situation or role. And that is what being a Druid is all about. We will never be "as good" as the main class role we are trying to fill, but our strength and where we excel is that w/ just a quick gear change, we can fill almost any role as needed
